Today I found out that I will be able to graduate in May (or at least walk with a few credits pending). Some of you may be thinking, "I thought you knew that a long time ago." But the past few weeks have been very uncertain... not being able to get into classes... classes not being offered... etc. etc. etc. But today I got approval from the Graphic Design II instructor to take the class without having Graphic Design I. This not only made me super excited because it means I will have enough credits to graduate, but it also made me feel good because I got the approval based on an excellent reference from one of my former teachers. (Good thing he did not get the reference from my summer instructor... have to say I was a little distracted during that class.) The only bad thing is, though, the class is on Wednesday nights - LOST night! We will have to find someone to tape it for us of course. We only have 2 discs left (8 episodes) before we finish season 2. We have watched a total of 40 episodes since Christmas. There is something about laying in bed watching TV with a snack and the love of your life that is just wonderful! This weekend we are going to go to Kansas and help Luke's sister and brother-in-law work on their basement. We found out at Christmas, but as of last week we can officially announce that we are going to have a little neice or nephew!!! They want to get the basement before the baby comes (which is due July 14) and it gives Luke a chance to work with his new tools. We went to visit the Celebrity Homes office again yesterday. In the next week, we are supposed to be hearing from the person they do financing with to set up a meeting. She can help us determine if and what we can afford. We are very excited. If we do it we will be moving in July or August. Man, the summer seems to be filling up rather quickly!

Ashley- we just filled out a little card probably 2 1/2 years ago. I bet you could ask your server the next time that you go.

Back in Business

I am sure that everyone is ecstatic to know that the Thompson Blog site is once again being maintained. It has been a busy last couple of months, but January has brought a little lighter load and that is great. We celebrated Luke's birthday today by going shopping and then to Red Robin. He gets a free birthday burger coupon in his email every year. Although, I tend to wonder if they realized it was him that stirred many complaints by those women that heard the incident, they may revoke his membership to the birthday burger club :). Yadi is getting big and curious, and her teeth and claws are as sharp as ever. I used to not want her to grow up b/c I didn't think she would be as cute. Now I am craving the day when she is a little more calm. Of course I still love her and let her share my pillow at night. The purrs put me to sleep! Mostly all is well and I don't think I could ever ask for anything more than God has given me. The first one is Revelation 1:3, "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near." How often people say that these things are not practical to their lives, or that they complicate things too much. It is an actual commercial that is played on TV here in Nebraska. This campaign for senate has gotten out of control. Every commercial break you hear at least one, usually more, commercial from one of these two and the majority of them are negative ads. This one is by Republican Pete Ricketts bashing Democrat Ben Nelson. Unfortunately, I never got my voter registration back even though I applied for it in July when I got my new drivers license, but I don't know who I would vote for if I could. Apparently Nelson is a very conservative Democrat, supporting Pro-Life and pretty non-partisan in his current role in the Senate. I have heard Ricketts is a more liberal Reuplican, but I do not know the specifics of why. I am ready for election day to see who wins, but even more to stop seeing these ridiculous commercials.

Sick Day

Today I did something that I have never done since I have been at Kinko's - called in sick. Plenty of times I have felt bad at night, but mysteriously I always feel better in the morning and cannot call in with a good conciense. Today was going to be different and I knew i,t so I called in at 3 am (the benefit of working at a 24-hour store) so I didn't have to wake up this morning and do it. I also think that I set a world record today. I put a cough drop in my mouth before taking a 2 hour nap, and it was still partially there when I woke up! I was pretty amazed. I am feeling a little bit better now. I hope to go into tomorrow because all calling in sick really means is that I will have twice as much to do the next day. But it was well worth it today, even though I did miss the Halloween potluck.

A little boy with a big bat... It was really fun, and really convicting/encouraging. The college pastor does a really good job of emphasizing the importance and weightiness of things. It is hard not to be impacted. He talked on the image of God. The sessions were about the image of God being given to all men, the image of God being perverted because of sin, and the true image of God coming to earth to restore God's image in us. It has made us both think a lot about how we act and how we view the people around us, especially at work. We also had a really good time talking to people there. There are some really neat people in that group, that encourage you just through conversation. It was also fun being married there. You can spend as much time together as you want and no one will tell you that you need to stop hanging out with your significant other so much. We did have good times apart though. Luke got to play football twice and I got to talk to Candice and the pastor's wife for a while. It was a lot of fun, and we are excited about doing more things with that group.

Good News!

I am always a little scared each semester to look at the new class schedule, since I am so limited in times when I can take classes. So when I saw the new Metro winter schedule in the mail, I didn't want to open it at first. But... it turns out I get to take TWO classes for the winter quarter. This means, if I have calculated everything correctly, I will only have 3 classes left at Metro after that semester. I would normally be a little reluctant to do two computer graphic design classes at once, but knowing I will be able to work at home makes a load of difference. I enjoyed the break from the computer this semester in my 3d studio class, but I am excited to get back on the computer. It is my true nitch!
